Thistle & Tail exists because of a fairly small irritation: almost every cat product on the market looks like it was designed for a toy store, and most of it is bought once and never thought about again.
We wanted the opposite. A short list of things that get used every day, wear out, and need replacing. Cat supplies treated as homeware rather than novelty.
What that means in practice
We carry three shelves and nothing else. Hydration and feeding. Litter and clean-up. Grooming and comfort. If an item does not solve a daily problem, it does not earn a place.
We choose the supplier, not just the product. We do not hold our own stock, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The suppliers we picked ship straight to you, which is what keeps a stainless steel fountain at $49 instead of $80. Anything that starts arriving badly made comes off the site.
We tell you where things ship from. Most of our range ships from US warehouses and arrives in a few days. Three items — the fountain, its replacement filters and the steel scoop — ship from an overseas warehouse and take around eight days. We say which is which on the product page, because a delivery estimate you can trust is worth more than a fast one you cannot.
If it does not match the picture, we refund it. Product photographs come from the supplier and show the actual item. If what lands is not what you saw, send us a photo and we will refund or replace it. No return shipping, no argument.
We answer email. A person, usually inside a day.
Cats first
We started with cats deliberately. Cat owners are underserved by a market that spends most of its attention on dogs, and cat-specific problems are genuinely under-discussed. Whisker fatigue is real. Chronic under-hydration is real, and it is behind a large share of the urinary and kidney trouble that sends cats to the vet. Most of what we sell exists to address a problem like that rather than to be cute.
Dogs will come later. We would rather do one species properly than two badly.
